What is EL MORRO?

EL MORRO is a castle in Puerto Rico that was buit by the Spaniards. Built in 1539, it was not put into use until 50 years later. It, presently, covers over 70 acres of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Rising up to close to 150 feet in the air, one side faces Old San Juan and the other presents a nice view of the ocean.

This castle saw many a war. It was used to help protect Puerto Rico from invading forces such as the English and Dutch ships. It saw action for the last time back in 1898, with the invasion of the USA. The USA fought with Spanish forces and won. Puerto Rico was one of the spoils of war becoming an American Territory. CAGUAS, PUERTO RICO!

This is where I spent 8 years of my life. I refer to Caguas as my second hometown. I met some real decent people and learned how to appreciate the wonders of my culture. Caguas is a booming town compared to how it was when I, first, got there. There are modern shopping centers, restaurants and movie theaters all around.

Caguas was named after the chief Indian named Caguax. Puerto Ricans have a mixture of Spaniard, Indian and African. In some cases, like me, even French. Our history is an interesting one, especially when one looks at the political spectrum. There is much to see in Caguas. I have enclosed some pictures of some scenery in Caguas.
